St. Judes Children’s Hospital opened their doors in 1962 and they have been helping children deal with cancer and other incurable diseases over the past 50 plus years.  Founded by the late actor and comedian Danny Thomas, St. Jude was opened because of a promise Thomas made early in his career.  As a young struggling actor in Detroit Thomas was moved by a mass at a Detroit church where he gave his last dollars to the collection plate.  The next day he received a small part which made it able for him to pay his bills.  Over the years as his success and fame grew, he never forgot his prayer to St. Jude Thaddeus, the patron saint of hopeless causes.  The hospital opened it’s doors with the relentless support of Thomas and the individuals he recruited to aid in the cause.

St Jude Childrens Research HospitalNow Mariah is lending her support.  The research facility provides medical care for children and the families never receive a bill.  Cancer survival rate at the hospital has increased from 20% to 80% since the hospital opened.

So if you are a fan of Carey and want to help out a good cause now you can combine the two.
