Arizona Woman Facing Two Felonies Garners Sympathy, Support Via YouCaring Crowdfunding Campaign

Shanesha Taylor finds herself at the center of an incredibly unfortunate story that has helped to shed light on what the unemployed sometimes go through just to try to get back to their feet in our society.

shanesha-taylorTaylor was arrested and charged with two felony counts of child endangerment after leaving her two young children – aged six months and two years, respectively – in a car for 45 minutes. The reason? She was interviewing for a job and couldn’t find child care that day. Taylor’s mug shot tells the story. It’s a gut-wrenching.

An Arizona church paid her bond, but that isn’t the only assistance Taylor is receiving in light of her story. A crowdfunding campaign currently running on the donation-based platform YouCaring has now raised over $90,000.

YouCaringThe campaign was launched by Amanda Bishop, who bears no relation to Taylor. She simply wanted to help her in her time of need. She says that all contributions to the campaign will be gifted to Taylor in order to help with legal fees and anything else the woman may need to get back on her feet.

It’s just the latest example of crowdfunding being used for an act of charitable giving on the heels of a major national story. The campaign for Karen the bus monitor became famous after raising hundreds of thousands on Indiegogo, for example.
