“The outpouring of generosity from so many civic-minded citizens for the essential work of National Capital Area nonprofits is extraordinary,” United Way NCA President and CEO Rosie Allen-Herring explained. “Widespread support from all sectors of the region – corporations, retail establishments, local governments, nonprofits, and media organizations – made this year’s Do More 24 an even greater success. It’s quite inspiring to see everyone come together on one day to make our region a better place for all.”

Through the Do More 24 giving portal, donors were able to search for and connect with nonprofits offering programs and services that address basic health and human services needs as well as animal welfare, arts and culture, education, environment and community improvement, financial stability, religion, and workforce readiness. Do More 24 offered all nonprofits serving the National Capital Area (whether they were United Way NCA member nonprofits or not) the opportunity to reach new donors, gain increased visibility, and receive a welcome mid-year infusion.

Top overall online donation earners were Joseph’s House ($36,304), Friends of Homeless Animals ($28,594) and Little Lights Urban Ministries ($26,516).

United WayDozens of area restaurants and retail establishments supported Do More 24 through special events and by donating a portion of their June 19 sales to Do More 24 and participating nonprofits. Those proceeds will increase the day’s total when those funds are counted. United Way NCA also awarded cash prizes totaling $72,500 to the nonprofits with the most successful Do More 24 campaigns.
