Earlier this week, Indiegogo announced the immediate integration and availability of Apple Pay – incorporating the one touch iPhone payment system in their crowdfunding platform. The popular website joins a growing number of banks, credit card providers and retailers jumping aboard Apple’s spin on a digital wallet.
On Wednesday (October 22nd), CEO of Indiegogo Slava Rubin sat down with Bloomberg TV to share details about the exciting news. “I think it is super exciting. I think that Apple has come out with really great innovations recently. I think Apple Pay has the opportunity to be the next big thing. We heard about it, I was so excited about it. It is an easier way for people to fund. I was only hoping to be part of the Apple Pay partnership as soon as possible.
I did actually used all my connections through our investors to get connected to some of the people at Apple and right away they were like, ‘Wow, we really love Indiegogo. Crowdfunding is a perfect use of Apple Pay. Let’s make it happen.’ We were one of the first sixteen companies to partner with Apple day one (yesterday) when it came out. Already fourteen of the top twenty projects on Indiegogo have been funded by Apple Pay.”
