In conjunction with the launch of the Local Road Safety Index, AXA Car Insurance is match funding a road safety crowdfunding campaign in partnership with Crowdfunder, enabling local communities to source funds to help pay for much needed road safety initiatives – helping to further reduce the number of casualties on UK roads.
As part of the campaign, AXA has committed an initial £10,000 which will be used to ‘match-fund’ the projects once they have reached their Crowdfunder targets. Communities across the UK can get their road safety projects off the ground and gain vital funds by launching individual projects through the London-based crowdfunding platform.
Parents or local road safety officers, schools, local campaigners, local authorities and businesses can use Crowdfunder to fund projects from lollipop people right up to the funding of a pedestrian crossing and road safety signs around schools and play-areas.
The Crowdfunder Academy coaching team will work with each project to teach individuals how they can raise the funds from their communities. James Barclay from AXA, shared,“Crowdfunding is a great way for us to connect directly with communities. Match funding projects that the communities themselves have pledged on means that we are helping to support projects that we know are important to local areas across the UK.”
Phil Geraghty, MD of Crowdfunder, noted,“At Crowdfunder we are committed to helping every community in the UK raise the funds they need for more sustainable and secure society. Our relationship with AXA gives us the opportunity to bring alternative digital finance to communities alongside empowering them to make their roads safer for younger generations.”
