Just a few days after the launch of its crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, Broken Lizard’s Super Troopers 2 has no only raised well over its $2 million goal, it is closing in on $3 million faster than anyone can chug a whole bottle of maple syrup.
The production company announced the highly anticiapted sequel just 14 years after the first film’s release at the 2001 Sundance Festival. The crew revealed that the movie would only be made IF the Indiegogo campaign completely raised its $2 million initial goal. Within only a couple of hours, the project raised $1.3 million and then on day two was completely funded (yay!).
Sharing their gratitude to the fans that contributed, Broken Lizard announced:
“Holy sh*tballs!! In just over 24 hours we hit the first milestone. If we could cry, we’d be crying. Thank you so much. Sincerely. We can make the skinny version of Super Troopers 2 but I think we all want the muscular version so let’s keep going.”
The crew also released new perks (including Farva talking to from the trunk, red carpet premiere in Chicago tickets, and an advance screening in NYC, LA, Austin, San Francisco and Chicago). They also released new clips of Farva having an unfortunate run-in with the Vermont State Highway patrol officers.
