Lending Club has cooked up a nice infographic on the importance of small business in the US. Sure the marketplace lending platform mainly facilitates credit for consumers, but the largest US direct lender is quickly pushing into SME lending so the message (for them) is highly relevant.
Lending Club’s “State of Small Business Financing” infographic highlights some interesting facts, including:
- There are 28 million small businesses in the US
- 44% of SMEs want financing but cannot get it
- Of these 44%, if they received financing they would hire at least one more person.
- This would create 3 million jobs (and perhaps alleviate the full unemployment rate of the US)
