GoFundMe Initiative For Alleged Murdered Shopkeeper Asad Shah Attracts Over £80,000 in Three Days

Last week, 40-year-old English shopkeeper, Asah Shah, was pronounced dead after being found with severe injuries in the city of Shawlands, Glasgow. After hearing about the devastating news, a group of the city’s residents banned together to launch a crowdfunding campaign on GoFundMe to help Shah’s family during this time. Within three days of its debut, the initiative successfully secured over 80,000 from nearly 9,000 supporters.

Sharing details about Shah, one of the campaign’s organizers, Jen Bannerman, revealed:

Asah Shah“Mr Shah was a popular, well respected and much loved member of our community and his death has devastated many. He was a warm and friendy man and he always went out of his way to make time to talk to you  –  he was more than just our local shopkeeper.  He was a friend to many. It quickly became clear to us in the aftermath of this tragedy that the people of Shawlands (and wider) were looking for a way to show their support to Asad’s family and we thought this would be a fitting way to do so.”

Local authorities have confirmed confirmed to The Telegraph that a 32-year-old man has been arrested in connect with Shah’s death:

“A full investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances surround the death, which is being treated as religious prejudiced.”

One of the witnesses to the crime shared:

“As I drove past I saw two men standing over the victim. One was stamping on his head. There was a pool of blood on the ground. It was horrific. The police arrived in minutes and the poor guy was getting CPR at the scene.”

The media outlet also noted that Shah had wished Christians a happy Easter just hours before his death:

“Upcoming special event: GOOD FRIEND AND VERY HAPPY EASTER ESPECIALLY TO MY BELOVED CHRISTIAN NATION X! BISMILLAH…. Let’s Follow The Real Footstep of Beloved Holy JESUS CHIRST (PBUH) And Get the Real Success in Both Worlds xxxx.”
