Brief: BrewDog Founders Named Queen’s Birthday Honours List MBEs

Earlier this month, BrewDog founders, Martin Dickie and James Watt, received MBEs in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list. The company was started in the back of a van and has evolved into a powerhouse artisanal brewery. It has been known for its guerrilla marketing tactics and ability to enlist consumers to support its iconic brand.

BrewDog James Watt Martin DickieMBE stands for the Members of the Order of the British Empire. This is honored for a significant achievement or outstanding service to the community. It is also awarded for local ‘hands-on’ service which stands out as an example to other people.

Sharing his thoughts about the award, Watt revealed to BBC:

“It’s amazing to have been awarded something so prestigious.”

Currently,  BrewDog is making final preparation for the launch of Equity for Punks USA. The company has filed with the SEC to launch a Reg A+ mini-IPO for their Yankee subsidiary. Mission control for BrewDog US will be based in the heartland of Columbus, Ohio – but operations will not just supply the lower 48. BrewDog sees the extension into the colonies as a chance to expand further into other countries.
