#BrexitJustice Crowdfunder UK Captures Over £100,000 In An Effort to Stop European Union Departure

Earlier this month, a man by the name Marcus J. Ball took to the crowdfunding platform, Crowdfunder UK, to raise £100,000 to bring the pro-Brexit politicians to court for various charges and prevent Brexit from happening. This initiative, which is called #BrexitJustice, was launched just a couple weeks after the majority of UK voters made the decision to leave the European Union (EU).

BrexitJustice 2The campaign’s main objective is to bring pro-Brexit politicians to court for fraud, misconduct in public office, undue influence and, possibly, inciting racial hatred. The initiative also hopes to raise funds that ensure the BrexitJustice group receive the resources required for extensive legal actions along with engage barristers, solicitors, and Queen’s Counsels (QC’s) at a fraction of normal fees. Organizers of the campaign stated more funds they raise, the more cases they can bring against “dishonest politicians” and the more resistance we can raise against Brexit.

Sharing details about the campaign, Ball stated to Business Insider:

The dream scenario would be a series of Leave politicians being prosecuted for undue influence and misconduct in public office; Vote Leave Ltd being prosecuted for fraud; prison sentences for politicians who have lied to the public; and a second referendum, but this time with strict rules regarding the honesty of politicians.”

Marcus J BallAlso speaking about the criticism that the campaign has received, Ball noted:

“Thankfully, I am protected from most of it because I don’t run the Twitter page. A volunteer called Jennifer is responsible for that and she has been working incredibly hard. She has shielded from all of the abuse. I’ve had messages on YouTube and over email but no death threats yet. But, yes, some pretty negative stuff.”

In regards to how much he hopes the campaign will receive, Ball added:

“I would love for us to reach £250,000. I really hope we do. But I’m not 100% confident that we will.”

Since its launch, the campaign has successfully secured its initial funding goal from over 3100 supporters. It is set to close at the end of July.
