Supporters of CNN Dubbed “Real Fault in Our Stars” Couple Launch GoFundMe For Them to See One Another

Supporters of Katie and Dalton Prager, the dubbed real “Fault in Our Stars” couple by CNN, have launched a crowdfunding campaign on GoFundMe to raise $15,000 so that Dalton may be able to see Katie before she passes away from cystic fibrosis. Both husband and wife have the disease, received double lung transplants, and are now battling Lymphoma together. Unfortunately, Katie is now in the end stage of renal failure and is in hospice care.

pragerThe campaign’s description reads:

Dalton and Katie, aka The Real Life Fault In Our Stars as dubbed by CNN are needing your help. Both with Cystic Fibrosis, both recieved double lung transplants, both battled Lymphoma. Katie in end stage renal failure, now on hospice in Kentucky. Dalton with severe pneumonia intubated and on the ventilator in St Louis. We need him to get to his wife before she can no longer comprehend things. We have tried several charitable flight crews with no luck so far. Insurance will not pay for a compassionate transfer. The hospital also will not.”

Katie reportedly told CNN the plan would be to fly Dalton to the University of Kentucky Medical Center so he may be closer to her. She also said she hopes he’ll be discharged next week and can make the drive to her Flemingsburg, Kentucky home.

“If we only get to spend a day and a night together, we’ll be happy with that.”

Since its launch on Wednesday, the campaign has raised more than $12,500 from over 300 supporters.
