On Wednesday, Indiegogo announced it now supports Apple Pay on the web. Backers may use Apple Pay in the Safari web browser on iPhone, iPad, and Mac to back campaigns on the global crowdfunding platform.
This news comes nearly two years after Indiegogo incorporated the one touch iPhone payment system in their crowdfunding platform. At the time, co-founder of Indiegogo, Slava Rubin, stated:
“We’re always looking for ways to help people find and fund what matters to them—in the simplest way possible. As the only crowdfunding partner to join the Apple Pay launch, we’ve made supporting campaigns and bringing dreams to life even easier. The single-touch payment feature also comes with an additional built-in security layer through Apple’s Touch ID™ system, which encrypts and remotely stores credit card data. We take pride in our unprecedented trust and safety measures, which protect contributors and campaign owners, alike.”
The funding portal now reveals:
“As the first crowdfunding platform to initially support Apple Pay in 2014, we’re continually working with leading companies pioneering great technologies so all of our entrepreneurs and backers can benefit from the latest innovations.”
To use Apple Pay on its website, Indiegogo stated users just need to use the Safari web browser to view a campaign. The company noted that by using Touch ID or double-clicking Apple Watch, users may now provide a payment, shipping, and contact information to check out with just one click.
Indiegogo then added that Apple Pay currently works with iPhone 6 and later in stores apps and websites in Safari. It is also available with Apple Watch in stores and apps; iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 3 and later in apps and websites; and with Mac in Safari with an Apple Pay-enabled iPhone 6 and later or Apple Watch.
