On Thursday, crowdfunding platform Crowdfunder UK announced it has teamed up with London Sport for a new mission: to make London the most physically active sporting city in the world. Through the #MostActiveCity partnership, London Sport is seeking to get 1 million Londoner to become more active by 2020.
According to Crowdfunder UK, a group of projects has launched through the partnership to get the £5,000 prize. The funds will be split between the project that raises the most and the project that runs the most creative campaign. The Crowdfunder UK team revealed:
“Through our partnership, we’re harnessing the power of the Crowd to channel extra funding into ideas that get London moving and get more people participating in sport clubs across the capital. To get started on our #MostActiveCity mission, we’ve been working with a group of sports projects that are investing in their communities and inspiring people to get moving. From bouncing boots to basketball, nature parks to a world record attempt – today these projects are turning to the Crowd to make their ideas happen.”
Peter Fitzboydon, chief executive of London Sport, added:
“Through Crowdfunder we will be able to have a greater impact on the city and help to ensure that sport continues to be a major part of life for Londoners.”
