The Singapore FinTech Association (SFA) has signed MOUs with five polytechnics in efforts to grow and nurture talent in the industry, as well as to improve coordination between educators and fintech industry leaders. The five entities are Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic, and Temasek Polytechnic.
According to Chia Hock Lai, President of SFA;
“In order to attract fintech companies to set up shop in Singapore, we need [a] talent pool. So we need to grow the talent pool so that it is conducive for foreign companies to set up shop so that they can use Singapore as a base to reach out to Asia.”
SFA will collaborate with the five polytechnics to set up internship placements for final-year students in startups, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies involved in fintech.
Students will learn skills including those needed for blockchain, payments, digital banking, and cybersecurity.
