Nearly two months after announcing to Indiegogo backers they were continuing the editing process, director of Super Troopers 2, Jay Chandrasekhar along with castmate Kevin Heffernan, announced the movie is officially been screened by their friends and family.
As previously reported, film studio Broken Lizard sought to raise $2 million for the sequel of the 2001 comedy Super Troopers during its Indiegogo campaign in 2015 and has so far secured more than $2.5 million. Although the plot is still unknown, according to IMDb, fans are still gearing up for what they believe to be a great follow up to the hilarious comedy. The film will star Chandrasekhar (starring and directing), Paul Soter, Steve Lemme, Erik Stolhanske, and Heffernan. Other cast members include Emmanuelle Chriqui, Rob Lowe, Hayes MacArthur, Tyler Labine and Will Sasso.
In their latest update, the duo stated:
“A lot has been happening over the last few weeks as we work hard toward getting the movie in a theater near you. We have a nice tight cut of the film so we did our first “friends & family” feedback screening and it was a huge success. It’s always nerve wracking to show the movie to an audience for the first time, but I am proud to report that the laughs were big. Following that screening, we showed the film to our studio, Fox Searchlight… also nerve wracking, but it turns out they loved it too.”
“We know. It’s been a long time. But we’re happy to say that we’re getting close. Extremely close. We’re on the verge of having a date from the studio, and everything hinges on that. Once we do, we’ll tell you first, and that date dictates when we can start sending out rewards.”
