Indiegogo is Heading to SXSW 2017: Announces Hosted Crowdfunding Events

Global crowdfunding platform Indiegogo announced on Thursday it is making its way to the 2017 SXSW festival, which kicked off on Friday and will run until March 19th in Austin, Texas.

Every year, some of the coolest people doing the coolest things descend on Austin to discuss what’s going on in interactive media (tech), music, and film for South By Southwest. Because there truly is something at SXSW for everyone, we thought we would also bring a little of everything to this awesome and diverse audience.”

The funding portal revealed the various events that it’ll be hosting during SXSW:

  • Aaron Hillis, Indiegogo’s manager of film and creative outreach will be holding a mentor session to answer questions about filmmaking. This will be held on Saturday (March 11th) from 2-3 p.m. at the Stephen F. Austin Ballroom A.
  • Ben Bateman, Indiegogo’s director of strategic programs for China will be discussing his experience working with Chinese startups. His session will be held on March 11th from 5-6 p.m. at JW Marriott Salon C.
  • Hillis will also host another session about why Karaoke is considered the latest networking tool at film conferences. A panel will join him on stage and will consist of Jen Yamato reporter at The Daily Beast, writer/producer/director Roxanne Benjamin, and Tom Hall, Executive Director of the Montclair Film Festival. This will be held on March 12th at the Austin Convention Center Room 17B from 2-3 p.m.
  • Slava Rubin, Indiegogo’s co-founder and chief business officer will take to the stage with CEO and founder of MicoVentures, Bill Clark to discuss equity crowdfunding platform. This will be held on March 14th from 9:30-10:30 at JW Marriott Salon D.

Indiegogo added:

We know that there is lots to see at SXSW, and lots to eat all over Austin, but we’d love to see you at any and all of our sessions. Whether you’re interested in launching a campaign, investing in a project, or just want to have fun and learn at the same time, come find us!”
