Just a couple weeks after launching its craft hotel, Doghouse, and sour beer facility Indiegogo campaign, UK-based BrewDog’s latest project is nearing $200,000 thanks to more than 1,250 backers. The brewery was originally seeking $75,000 for the upcoming project, which will be added to its U.S. location in Columbus, Ohio.
As previously reported, BrewDog claims that the Doghouse is the first crowdfunded craft beer hotel. It will be attached to a brand new sour beer facility, and both will be located on its new U.S. site. Doghouse features include beer themed rooms, punk jacuzzi, shower beer fridges, a spa that will have malted barley massages and hop face masks. Explaining the purpose of the hotel, BrewDog shared:
“We want to create the top craft beer destination on the planet. Our brewery in Ellon, Scotland has become a destination for craft beer fans across Europe, and we want to build an even more amazing beer destination stateside. With The DogHouse focused on amazing craft beer from BrewDog and our favourite breweries worldwide, we’re creating the ideal environment in which to immerse yourself in the ultimate beery weekend.”
While noting details about the sour beer facility, BrewDog explained:
“By building a dedicated sour beer facility on site at our brewery in Columbus, Ohio, we’re setting ourselves up to start building some insane recipes without impacting on our day-to-day brewing.”
Both Doghouse and the Sour Beer Facility will cost $6 million to build and furnish. The proceeds from the Indiegogo campaign will enable the brewery to fast-track the project. Those that back the project will receive various perks:
In a recent update, BrewDog announced it was adding a new stretch goal. If the campaign secures $200,000, BrewDog will be offering the following:
The Indiegogo campaign is set to close at the beginning of April.
