Almost two years after the release of Indiegogo-funded Lazer Team 2, production studio Rooster Teeth released the first trailer for the film’s upcoming sequel. As previously reported, Lazer Team 2 received more than $2.3 million in funding during its crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo in 2014 and raised an additional $1 million in theatrical release pre-sales. The sequel’s synopsis reads:
“After one of their own is lost in another dimension, the Lazer Team groups together once again to fight against a new threat.”
The film’s cast includes Burnie Burns, Gavin Free, Michael Jones, Allie DeBerry, Colton Dunn andNichole Bloom. Lazer Team 2 is written by Burns, Daniel Fabelo, and Rooster Teeth CEO Matt Hullum, and co-directed by Fabelo and Hullum. Hullum revealed in a statement:
“We’re thrilled to be premiering Lazer Team 2 with YouTube Red and tell another story of adventure, heart, and hilarity with the old gang along with some new, exciting faces. YouTube Red has been a great partner for us and helped Rooster Teeth reach new audiences and fans.”
Lazer Team 2 is set to premiere on November 22nd through YouTube Red. Susanne Daniels, YouTube’s Global Head of Original Content, also stated:
“Rooster Teeth’s engaged, global fanbase supported this project from the beginning, turning out in droves to watch their favorite personalities take on new roles. We love that this movie franchise is thriving on YouTube Red and can’t wait to bring fans more of the action and humor they’ve come to love.”
Lazer Team 2 will hit theaters for a special event cinema release in mid-November in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the U.K. See the trailer below.
