Ooma, Inc. (NYSE: OOMA), a smart communications platform for businesses and consumers, announced on Tuesday it has acquired Butterfleye, Inc., an AI-powered video camera, and security platform. This news comes just a little over a year after Butterfleye secured $641,774 for its monitoring camera on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo. While sharing details about the acquisition, Eric Stang, CEO of Ooma, stated:
“Butterfleye offers a fantastic intelligent security camera system and we’re excited to add its capabilities to the Ooma Home security service. Our strategy is to build upon Ooma’s smart communications platform to provide advanced connected home solutions and this acquisition is an important step in that direction.”
Ben Nader, CEO of Butterfleye, also commented:
“We are thrilled to join Ooma. With their support Butterfleye will be even better placed to develop the next generation in AI connected services for homes and businesses.”
Ooma then added that Butterfleye’s smart video camera with AI for facial and audio recognition will be integrated into the Ooma Home security solution, and will also continue to function as a stand-alone security system sold under the Butterfleye brand. The companies did not disclose the financial details of the acquisition transaction.
