BrewDog Announces “Equity For Punks V” Campaign Extension After Securing £10 Million Funding Target

UK-based craft brewer BrewDog announced this week it has extended its Equity for Punks V round after the campaign successfully secured its initial £10 million funding target. The initiative was launched this past fall. As previously reported, the Scottish craft brewer returned to the UK with a securities offer following the end of its US Reg A+ crowdfunding round, Equity for Punks USA, which raised $7 million. BrewDog has now successfully raised capital through crowdfunding six times.

  • 2009 Equity for Punks I – £750,000
  • 2011 Equity for Punks II – £2.2 million
  • 2013 Equity for Punks III – £4.25 million
  • 2015 Equity for Punks IV – £19 million
  • 2017 Equity for Punks USA – $7 million
  • 2017-2018 Equity for Punks V – £11.5 million (so far)

After the campaign secured its funding goal, Co-Founder of BrewDog, James Watt revealed to the Telegraph that the brewing company is keeping the campaign open until October 2018 in order to attract more funding for continuous growth and expansion. The funds will go towards opening a new brewery in Ellon, Aberdeenshire, right next to its original site, in order to keep up with demand in the UK and Europe. Other funds will go towards BrewDog’s new sour beer facility, The Overworks, which launches later this month. Watt also shared:

“It’s insane to see more than 20,000 people buy a piece of our business, and with interest still proving higher than we anticipated, we have decided to extend the opportunity to invest in our company until October.”

To date, BrewDog has raised around £50 million through its funding rounds and has attracted more than 73,000 shareholders. At the time of Equity For Punks V’s launch, the company had a £1.7 billion valuation. Shares through Equity For Punks V cost £23.75 each and are issued in blocks of two, meaning the minimum investment is £47.50. The campaign is now set to close on October 15th or when the maximum allowable,  £50 million, is secured.
