On Thursday, Starling Bank announced it was adding Garmin Pay to its range of digital wallets. The new feature will allow Garmin users to make purchases at thousands of stores where contactless payments are accepted. The Garmin Pay is featured on three watches, which are:
- Vívoactive 3
- Forerunner 645
- Forerunner 645 Music
Setting up Garmin Pay is easy. The steps are:
- Download and open the Garmin Connect app on a smartphone
- Connect the watch to the phone through Bluetooth
- Select Garmin Pay and set a 4-digit passcode
Adding a Starling Debit card to Garmin Pay is also simple:
- Open the Garmin Connect app and tap add card
- Take a photo of the Starling card or enter the details manually
- Further verification may be required and once completed, the Starling card will be added to the Garmin Wallet on the watch
Speaking about the partnership with Garmin Pay, Julian Sawyer, Chief Operating Officer, stated:

Garmin Pay provides another way for our customers to make fast, straightforward and secure payments on the move.”
While sharing details about security, Starling Bank stated:
“All transactions are secure and protected by your 4-digit passcode. If you make a purchase after 24 hours of entering your 4-digit passcode, you will be asked to enter it again. If you take off your watch, your Garmin Pay wallet will lock and you will be asked to enter your passcode the next time you put it on. Card information is not stored or shared with Garmin, Starling or the merchant – it’s your Wallet.”
Starling added that if the watch is lost or stolen, Starling Bank reassured that the Garmin Wallet is protected by the personal passcode and the user may temporarily suspend the Wallet from the Garmin Connect App.
