Terrell McSweeny, Former FTC Commissioner & Covington Partner, Joins Georgetown Law’s Institute for Technology Law & Policy

Terrell McSweeny, a Former FTC Commissioner and current partner at Covington & Burling, is joining Georgetown Law’s Institute for Technology Law & Policy as a distinguished fellow. McSweeny departed the FTC this past April.

The Institute notes that McSweeny played key roles at the FTC and Department of Justice in multiple policy areas including Fintech.

Georgetown Law’s Institute for Technology Law & Policy is a forum in DC for policymakers, academics and technologists to discuss the issues and opportunities in technology law today.  The Institute also seeks to provide training for the next generation of lawyers and lawmakers with deep expertise in technology law and policy.

Prior to joining the FTC, McSweeny served as chief counsel for competition policy and Intergovernmental Relations for the US Department of Justice, Antitrust Division. Prior to that, she served as Deputy Assistant to the President and Domestic Policy Advisor to the Vice President (2009-2012), and as Senator Joe Biden’s Deputy Chief of Staff and Policy Director in the U.S. Senate. McSweeny is a graduate of Georgetown Law.
