KoreConX Advisor Randee Pavalow Appointed to the OSC Fintech Advisory Committee

KoreConX announced on Tuesday that Randee Pavalow, a member of the KoreConX advisory board, was appointed to be a member of the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) Fintech Advisory Committee.

According to KoreConX, the OSC administers and enforces compliance for the securities industry in Ontario and is aimed at protecting investors, fostering fair and efficient markets and contributing to the stability of the financial system.

“Ontario is the principal regulator for more than 80 percent of all Canadian Investment Funds and the OSC has specifically focused on addressing the emergence of new market sectors, including burgeoning fintech and cannabis industries and explosive growth in offerings involving digital assets.”

Pavalow’s new role at the commission specifically focuses on the oversight and advisement of the developments in the fintech space in Ontario, as well as the unique challenges encountered by innovative businesses in the securities industry.  She has a background in capital markets and is considered a thought leader on the topic. Between 2001 and 2007, Pavalow acted as director of capital markets, when she managed a group of 90 staff members and provided strategic direction and leadership. Speaking about Pavalow’s appointment, Oscar Jofre, co-founder and CEO at KoreConX, stated:

“Having Ms. Pavalow appointed to the Ontario Securities Commission only reiterates the quality of our advisory board. She is an extremely valuable resource for us, as she is to the capital markets industry as a whole. We are confident she will make a positive impact on the digital securities space – expanding opportunities without compromising security and compliance.”

The OSC Fintech Advisory Committee meets quarterly, with members serving at the minimum a one-year term.
