The Salt Lake Tribune has named LendingClub (NYSE: LC) as the number one top workplace in Utah for mid-sized companies. The list is based on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by research partner Energage.
Additionally, LendingClub was recognized with a special award: Best Managers.
LendingClub is a leading marketplace lender and a top provider of credit to consumers.
LendingClub, based in San Francisco, has been moving a growing number of employees from the tech-focused city as costs have continued to rise while city services have continued to decline. San Francisco has recently received much criticism for its inability to deal with a homeless crisis and sidewalks littered with needles and feces. Other rapidly growing firms have joined the exodus from the Bay Area. Meanwhile, the state of Utah has capitalized on tech firms looking for business-friendly jurisdictions to expand operations.
LendingClub opened its doors in Lehi, UT in January 2019 and has rapidly grown to fill the new office with over 500 people.
“We are pleased to be awarded this honor in our first year as a Lehi workplace,” said Whitney Jones, Chief People Officer at LendingClub. “This move has helped improve the service we offer LendingClub’s members, has given us access to incredible new talent pools and has enhanced business continuity as we continue to scale. I’m proud of our employees who work hard every day to help our customers on a path towards financial success.”
