Upcoming House Financial Services Committee Hearings to Include Discussions on SPACs, AI , Big Banks & More

The House Committee on Financial Services has disseminated the May 2021 calendar of hearings that cover a wide range of financial services issues.

As has been previously reported, this coming Thursday (May 6), beginning at 12Noon ET, will see the GameStop phenomenon discussed once again. The full Committee will convene for a virtual hearing entitled, “Game Stopped? Who Wins and Loses When Short Sellers, Social Media, and Retail Investors Collide, Part III.”

The following day (May 7) at 12 noon ET, The AI Task Force will convene for a virtual hearing entitled, “Equitable Algorithms: How Human-Centered AI Can Address Systemic Racism and Racial Justice in Housing and Financial Services.”

On May 24 at 12:00 noon ET, the Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship, and Capital Markets will convene for a virtual hearing entitled, “Going Public: SPACs, Direct Listings, Public Offerings, and the Need for Investor Protections.”

Towards the end of the month on May 27 at 12:00 noon ET, the full Committee will convene for a virtual hearing entitled, “Holding Megabanks Accountable: An Update on Banking Practices, Programs, and Policies.”

All hearings will be live-streamed on the Committee’s website.
