JP Morgan Exec Joins Checkout.com

Payments Fintech Checkout.com has announced the hire of JP Morgan cybersecurity expert Adrian Asher as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and head of cloud architecture, according to a note from the company.

As shared by the company, Asher led global cybersecurity identity in the cloud for JPM. Before that, he held several senior IT security positions at Microsoft-acquired Skype, the London Stock Exchange Group, HSBC, and Barclays Capital. Asher was also the Executive in Residence for the London branch of the Silicon Valley headquartered VC Accel Partners.

Asher said his new role at Checkout.com is the culmination of his past experience:

“From day one, my mission will be to draw on Checkout.com’s technology, vision for global connected payments and expertise of my colleagues to lead the market in providing the most secure payment solutions available to our customers, enabling them to unlock the fullest economic potential across their payments.”

Earlier this year, Checkout announced two key strategic hires: Ott Kaukver as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Nick Worswick as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). Kaukver was previously CTO at Twilio and led engineering at Skype. Worswick held the CRO position at both WeWork and GrubHub before joining Checkout.com.

Checkout.com claims that its recent senior-level executive hires reflects the business momentum and global expansion following its recent Series C funding, which tripled its valuation to $15 billion. Checkout.com expects to add more than 700 people across 18 of its global offices, bringing the total number of employees by the end of 2021 to more than 2,000
