The House Financial Services Committee has announced the list of witnesses scheduled to testify at a hearing entitled “Digital Assets and the Future of Finance: Understanding the Challenges and Benefits of Financial Innovation in the United States.” The witnesses include many of the biggest names in the crypto industry.
According to a statement by Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Chair of the Committee, the following executives will share their perspective on the digital asset sector:
- Jeremy Allaire, CEO, Circle
- Sam Bankman-Fried, CEO, FTX
- Brian Brooks, CEO, Bitfury
- Chad Cascarilla, CEO, Paxos
- Denelle Dixon, CEO, Stellar Development Foundation
- Alesia Haas, CEO, Coinbase Inc. and CFO, Coinbase Global Inc.
Brooks is the former acting Comptroller of the Currency and briefly the CEO of Binance US. Earlier this month it was announced that he was appointed the CEO of Bitfury – a Bitcoin mining firm and blockchain development group.
While the hearing memo has yet to be published, you may anticipate an extended hearing that spans the spectrum of crypto assets, including regulation, competition, and the benefits of distributed ledger technology. The hearing is a hybrid event so both virtual participation and in-person.
As with all Committee hearings, the proceedings will be live-streamed on the Committee’s website. The hearing is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, December 8 beginning at 10:00 AM Et.
