Former TD Ameritrade Exec Steve Quirk Joins Robinhood Markets as Chief Brokerage Officer

RobinhoodThe team at Robinhood (NASDAQ:HOOD) says they are pleased to announce Steve Quirk is joining Robinhood Markets as its Chief Brokerage Officer.

Robinhood writes in a blog post that Steve Quirk will be responsible for overseeing their broker-dealers, Robinhood Financial and Robinhood Securities, “effective January 10, 2022.” As their first-ever Chief Brokerage Officer, Steve will help the Fintech firm with scaling their products and services “efficiently and safely, so [they] can help more people begin their investing journey.”

Gretchen Howard, Robinhood’s Chief Operating Officer, stated:

“Steve brings extensive industry experience and leadership delivering products and services that make investing more accessible, his expertise and over 35 years of experience in the brokerage industry will help us keep bringing together the best of finance and technology to deliver a uniquely accessible investing experience.”

Steve Quirk remarked:

“I’m thrilled to be joining Robinhood’s leadership team and continue building towards their mission to democratize finance for all. Robinhood has been a transformative force in the industry in breaking down barriers for millions of retail investors.”

Steve joins Robinhood from TD Ameritrade, where he “oversaw the strategy and deployment of initiatives for Trading at TD Ameritrade.”

Steve also served as a member of the firm’s Senior Operating Committee, which “shaped the strategic focus of the organization.” Quirk focused on “teaching the next generation of investors and has championed the creation of the TD Ameritrade U program to bridge the gap between academia and reality.”

Before TD Ameritrade, Steve was “responsible for the development of new trading tools and technology enhancements for the thinkorswim trading platform.”

Robinhood’s management added that they’re excited to “welcome Steve to Robinhood’s executive leadership team.”

As covered recently, Robinhood had announced in September 2021 that crypto wallets were coming to the platform—enabling clients to not only trade, but send and receive virtual currency via the Robinhood app.

Robinhood wrote in a blog post that they’d long heard “Wen Wallets” echo “across the internet, but even [they] were surprised by just how excited [their] customers are for wallets.”

The Fintech firm revealed that they “saw 1 million waitlist sign-ups in less than 30 days, and as of [December 29, 2021,] more than 1.6 million people have signed up for wallets.”

In mid-January, Robinhood will “launch the wallets Beta phase, which will roll out to thousands of customers from the waitlist.” They will be “sharing more information on the Beta program in the coming weeks.”
