Following a COVID-induced pause on in-person events, LendIt Fintech is returning to a gathering of real people in New York City this week. Monkey-pox be damned, the annual gathering is expected to attract thousands of innovators, investors, service providers, and more to participate in a multi-day event hosted at the Javits Convention center. What is new about this year’s event is in advance of the affair, LendIt Fintech has rebranded as Fintech Nexus moving away from its digital lending roots.
While online lending will certainly always be near and dear to the founders, the Fintech sector has blossomed far beyond online capital formation (both debt and equity). Innovation in financial services is still very much in its early days as the digitization of the second most regulated industry in the world is still in early innings as entrepreneurs continue to offer new sophisticated, financial services to a wider market. This is happening globally and the pace of change should only accelerate – rising inflation will just be a bump along the road and could even derive new opportunities for aspiring Fintechs.
