Back Market, BNP Paribas Cardif, and bolttech have announced a partnership for the refurbishing market.
Back Market is a marketplace enabling the general public to buy thousands of electrical and electronic products that have been reconditioned.
bolttech is an international Insurtech, and BNP Paribas Cardif is a creditor insurance firm.
The partnership follows a policy by the French Government that intends to double the device “repair bonus” in July 2023 to encourage consumers to repair their devices rather than buy new ones. The French government has set a goal of 500,000 repairs by the end of 2023.
Back Market has joined forces with BNP Paribas Cardif and bolttech to launch Re.Purpose Careers, a training program open to all with no cost to the individual with an aim of training around 100 technicians by the end of 2023 in electronic appliance repair and reconditioning techniques.
The program is offered in conjunction with the CFA Ducretet training organization who will support the upskilling and training of candidates.
“The refurbished market is estimated to be worth over $80 billion, and it is growing exponentially every year. Repair professions are essential to the future, as we move away from a linear economy, where job opportunities are set to multiply. We are very proud to be supporting the training of the repairers of tomorrow, so that we can help our partner merchants to find more talented people!” commented Nathanaël Berbessou, Chief Executive Officer of Back Market in France.
bolttech CEO Jens Schaedler said they see the value in the circular economy and they are proud to support it.
