Fintech Nexus, once the must-attend global Fintech event of the year, is no more, according to a blog post on their website. Fintech Nexus has signed an agreement with Fintech Meeting to take over the events business.
Launched years ago as LendIt, focusing first on the online lending industry, the group branched out to cater to the broader financial innovation or Fintech market. The event first started as an annual gathering in the US with top financial innovators from around the world. Over time, Fintech Nexus organized events in Europe, and Asia and then covered the burgeoning Latin American Fintech sector. From global political leaders and CEOs of the biggest financial services firms – Fintech Nexus emerged as an obligatory convergence of top financial industry entrepreneurs and executives.
Always a highly professional conference, the company’s last event was held earlier this year in New York City at the Javits Center. While subdued in contrast to previous events due to the difficult economy, thousands of attendees came to learn about cutting-edge developments in financial services.
Going forward, Fintech Nexus will “discontinue its large-scale events.” All information regarding event sponsors and attendees has been transferred to Fintech Meetup – another entry in the financial conference industry.
The company stated that the remaining employees will pivot to focus on digital media, “returning to its roots,” according to founder Peter Renton. At the same time, the company stated that it will be offering a new “events as a service” product.
CI, a regular attendee, and thousands of others will miss the Fintech Nexus events.
