Mark Cuban, a noted entrepreneur and shark, had his crypto wallet hacked, according to multiple reports. Cuban is said to have lost around $870,000 in value when the crooks pilfered his funds. Apparently, the damage could have been worse, but Cuban prevented a greater loss by moving funds to Coinbase.

First reported by DL News, the funds apparently were held on MetaMask – free wallet. Cuban told the news outlet that he must have downloaded a version of MetaMask with “some shit in it.”
MetaMask is popular because it can be used as a browser-based service as well as an App. Created by Consensys in 2016, MetaMask has been criticized in the past for being a bit leeky. That being said, downloading anything from the internet can be a point of attack for bad actors.
While hacks of wallets may be fairly common, a high-profile vulnerability like Cuban highlights shortcomings in the crypto-sphere and DeFi in general.
