RegTech startup Aptus.AI has announced raising €3 million ($3.3 million) in a pre-Series A funding round anchored by Programma 103 under VC P101 Sgr.
The investment marks Programma 103’s first foray into the Regtech sector. The round was also backed by additional support from several business angels and Fin+Tech, the accelerator of CDP Venture Capital.
Founded by Andrea Tesei and Lorenzo De Mattei in Pisa, Aptus.AI is distinguished by its groundbreaking Daitomic platform, which revolutionizes the handling of legal documents by converting them into interactive, machine-readable formats.
This technology, developed by the co-founders who hold Ph.Ds. in Computer Science from the University of Pisa, has swiftly become instrumental in reshaping compliance management and the broader perception of its potential business impact.
In 2022, following the success of its seed round, Aptus.AI expanded its offerings to cater to complex financial institutions, providing services ranging from quick regulation consultations to creating personalized, multilingual legal inventories.
The company’s innovation has attracted significant interest from major banking and insurance institutions, with clients like Intesa Sanpaolo, Generali Investments, and MPS already on board.
Its solutions enable organizations to rapidly and accurately develop offerings, ensuring competitiveness and benefiting end consumers and the socio-economic landscape.
By merging AI for data extraction with generative AI, Aptus.AI’s technology achieves a high precision level in the complex legal field.
The RegTech market, driven by increasing regulatory norms and the growth of fintech, is estimated to reach $15.6 billion by 2027, with a CAGR of 21.18%.
Aptus.AI addresses a critical challenge in this market: the lack of machine-readable documents.
Its AI technology transforms legal documents into a machine-readable standard, facilitating interactions with legal texts and offering tools for regulatory consultation, automatic notifications, legal inventory management, and instant impact analysis.
This investment marks a significant step for Aptus.AI, positioning it as a leader in compliance and risk management and signaling a transformation in how large organizations handle legal documentation to create business opportunities.
Andrea Tesei, co-founder and CEO of Aptus.AI, comments:
We are determined to uphold the Italian flag in a sector like RegTech, which is proving increasingly important and strategic internationally, enabling large organizations to develop their offerings rapidly and correctly, thus remaining competitive and benefiting end consumers and the socio-economic fabric.
