Digital asset firm Gemini is pleased to announce the appointment of bas Head of Asia Pacific (APAC) at Gemini.
Saad Ahmed will now be expected to “lead Gemini’s strategy and business development efforts in the region.”
As noted in a blog post, Saad reportedly “joins Gemini from Grab, Southeast Asia’s superapp, where he held executive leadership positions as the Regional Head of Commercial and Managing Director, Merchants.”
As Head of APAC, Saad will continue to focus on “expanding Gemini’s APAC footprint, working to grow our user base and introducing our suite of products and services to institutions of all sizes. Saad will also oversee the region’s profitability and growth.”
With a career spanning more than two decades, Saad specializes in “scaling technology-driven enterprises within APAC.”
He has held various leadership roles “with global and regional giants such as Uber and Grab, helping both companies gain significant market share in the region. Prior to his roles at Grab, Saad was one of the founding team members for Uber in India and headed Business Development for the firm in Southeast Asia.”
Crypto is a global movement, and the East/West Crypto Flippening is upon us. As the crypto winter begins to thaw, Gemini are looking forward to their expansion in APAC “following the launch of our crypto derivatives platform and the opening of our India office in 2023.”

As covered, Gemini says they are pleased to announce that they’ve been registered as a Digital Asset Service Provider (DASP) by l’Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF), the French financial markets regulator.
Following the launch of their EU headquarters in Ireland in 2022, Gemini is now “operational in more than a dozen EU countries and more than 70 countries worldwide, with more countries on the roadmap.”
With a French DASP registration, Gemini products will “be available to retail and institutional users across France in the coming weeks as we complete final preparations to open up access to the Gemini platform in France.”
