Cryptocurrency media major CoinDesk has announced the appointment of Sara Stratoberdha as its new CEO as part of a major restrucuting following its acquisition by crypto exchange Bullish.
Stratoberdha, previously in charge of business development at Bullish, takes over from Kevin Worth, who stepped down from the media, events, and information company, following Bullish’s takeover.
The change in leadership marks a new chapter for CoinDesk, which will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary under Bullish’s umbrella.
The company is adamant about preserving its journalistic independence and integrity, a commitment reaffirmed by a CoinDesk spokesperson in light of Stratoberdha’s appointment.
This restructuring comes on the heels of Bullish’s acquisition of CoinDesk from Digital Currency Group, which faced its own set of challenges.
The overhaul has led to significant changes within CoinDesk’s leadership, including the departure of Chief Operating Officer and President of Media Elinor Hirschhorn, Vice President of Engineering John DeGuenther, and Executive Director of Global Strategy Emily Parker.
Michael Casey, the Chief Content Officer, will no longer hold a full-time position but is in talks to remain with CoinDesk in a different capacity.
Bullish CEO Tom Farley detailed the reorganization in a memo to employees, outlining the move toward a more streamlined organizational structure for CoinDesk’s media, indices, and events divisions.
Some departments, like Human Resources, will now report directly to their counterparts at Bullish, with further integration planned for the tech and product teams.
Farley praised the outgoing leadership for their contributions to CoinDesk’s growth into a leading global media entity and for facilitating a smooth transition into the Bullish family.
He expressed optimism about the future, highlighting the opportunities for CoinDesk to expand its media, events, and indices under the new leadership structure.
