MOVE Digital, the digital arm of Malaysia-listed aviation group Capital A, announced a strategic collaboration with Singapore’s fintech powerhouse, Ant International.
This partnership aims to diversify payment methods, enhance digital marketing efforts, and foster sustainable finance practices for the micro, small & medium enterprise (MSME) community across Capital A’s platforms.
A key initiative of this collaboration will see AirAsia MOVE integrating Alipay+ payment solutions, allowing users to seamlessly pay for services using Alipay+.
The partnership will also explore the incorporation of various wallet technologies, including super apps and mini-programs within the Alipay+ ecosystem, to improve customer experiences.
Furthermore, AirAsia MOVE plans to tap into Ant International’s vast user base for promoting its services through targeted promotions and exclusive deals for Alipay+ wallet users, thereby increasing its visibility within the Alipay+ ecosystem.
Joint marketing efforts and sponsorship opportunities, including events like UEFA EURO 2024 in Berlin, are also on the agenda.
Another significant development from this partnership is the inclusion of BigPay, Capital A’s fintech venture, as the latest Alipay+ partner wallet.
This move enables BigPay’s 1.5 million users to make seamless payments while traveling abroad and leverages Alipay+ Wallet Tech for enhancing payment security and introducing innovative technologies.
Tony Fernandes, CEO of Capital A, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting the potential for rapid growth and the acceleration of their mission to provide seamless financial services and affordable travel experiences.
“By leveraging Ant International’s innovative digital technology solutions and Capital A’s rich ecosystem, we can better serve our customers in the region and beyond,” Fernandes said.
Yang Peng, CEO of Ant International, mirrored Fernandes’ optimism, emphasizing the synergy between Ant International’s technological expertise and Capital A’s extensive service offerings, including AirAsia Aviation Group, AirAsia MOVE, and BigPay fintech services, which collectively serve over 700 million people in the region.
Introduced in 2020, Alipay+ Cross-border Mobile Payment Service facilitates global payments, connecting over 88 million merchants in 57 countries and regions to 1.5 billion consumer accounts across more than 25 e-wallets and banking apps.
Both companies also committed to advancing sustainability initiatives, such as promoting digital inclusion, cultivating digital talent, and supporting sustainable travel programs, furthering their impact on global digital finance and travel industries.
