Robinhood Announces Acquisition of Pluto, an AI Investment Research Platform

Robinhood (NASDAQ: HOOD) has revealed the acquisition of Pluto Capital Inc., described as an artificial intelligence (AI) powered investment research platform that delivers “highly-customized” investment strategies based on customer needs and financial goals.

With this strategic acquisition, investors may anticipate “a new era of intelligent, data-driven investing at Robinhood.”

The company shared that Pluto Founder and CEO Jacob Sansbury has joined the Robinhood team “to accelerate our product roadmap and help integrate AI-powered capabilities across the Robinhood platform.”

With Pluto, investors have had unique access to:

  • Enhanced Data Analysis: Pluto’s advanced data analytics capabilities can process and interpret market data more efficiently by providing state of the art large language models (LLMs) with access to real-time personal and global financial data. This means quicker identification of trends and opportunities, providing investors with a competitive edge.
  • Personalized Investment Strategies: Pluto’s algorithms tailor investment strategies to individual customer profiles. By analyzing factors such as risk tolerance, investment goals, and historical behavior, the platform offers highly customized recommendations.
  • Real-Time Insights and Portfolio Optimization: Investors receive real-time updates and insights, enabling informed decisions swiftly and confidently. With AI-driven analysis, customer portfolios can be continually optimized for better outcomes, balancing growth and risk according to individual preferences.

Mayank Agarwal, VP of Engineering, said:

“We are thrilled to welcome Pluto and Jacob Sansbury to Robinhood. They have built an impressive platform that is highly regarded in the financial services industry. Importantly, their expertise in artificial intelligence coupled with a mission-aligned passion to democratize finance will complement our team’s effort to bring AI powered tools to our customers.”

Sansbury described Robinhood as the “ideal destination” for his firm, and he looks forward to innovating at the company.

Prior to founding Pluto, Sansbury led publisher and game developer SDK tools at NVIDIA’s GeForce Now cloud gaming service. He is said to be the youngest engineer ever hired at Bridgewater, where he focused on quantitative finance and systematic investing.

By leveraging the power of artificial intelligence, Pluto claims to enable “a wealth of real-time data, including news articles, stock prices, company report cards, company financials, SEC filings, and much more at your fingertips.”
