Bitcoin Suisse says it’s pleased to announce the addition of the EIGEN token from EigenLayer to its comprehensive trading and custody services.
Effective immediately, Bitcoin Suisse clients can now reportedly trade and securely store EIGEN, further expanding their access to a growing range of digital assets.
By integrating EIGEN, Bitcoin Suisse continues to provide its clients with a “gateway” to the most innovative developments in the digital asset space.
EigenLayer is described as a “decentralized restaking protocol” that has been built on Ethereum (ETH), the world’s largest smart contract platform and second-largest cryptocurrency network in terms of market cap (right behind Bitcoin).
With the EIGEN token, the project is now said to open the door to a range of new possibilities in “decentralized infrastructure,” thus helping with empowering participants to contribute to network security in novel ways: ETH stakers are enabled to “enhance network security” by reusing their staked ETH and ERC-20 tokens for additional services or protocols, making security more efficient across multiple networks.
In addition to this, EigenLayer creates a marketplace where protocols are able to leverage Ethereum’s “robust” security infrastructure without having the need to develop their own.
The announcement also mentioned that this effectively reduces capital costs for validators, increases revenue opportunities, and strengthens Ethereum’s overall security by “consolidating fragmented security pools.”
The addition of EIGEN reflects Bitcoin Suisse’s commitment to expanding its asset offering with carefully selected projects that align with the “future of blockchain technology.”
As with all assets available on the platform, clients will benefit from 24/7 trading on Bitcoin Suisse Online and Bitcoin Suisse’s industry-leading custody services.
Dominic Weibel, Head of Research of Bitcoin Suisse, talked to the CEO of EigenLayer, Sreeram Kannan, back in May 2023 during an online session, which came shortly before restaking introduced on the Ethereum mainnet.
