THORChain via SwapKit is now available in the swap section of Ledger Live Desktop.
THORChain is a cross-chain decentralized exchange, enabling Ledger Live Desktop users to swap digital assets across different DLT / blockchain networks “without needing a centralized exchange.”
This integration allows for a seamless and decentralized process of “swapping assets directly through Ledger Live.”
By leveraging Ledger’s hardware wallet capabilities, users are now able to securely execute non-custodial swaps on THORChain directly through Ledger Live while maintaining “control over their private keys.”
As one of the largest decentralized exchanges and the first to enable transactions directly between Bitcoin (BTC) as well as Ethereum (ETH), THORChain has become a popular option for users looking to take advantage of “decentralized swaps while maintaining control over their crypto.”
THORChain, being a non-custodial exchange and a cross-chain liquidity protocol, eliminates the need for users to use a third party, “minimizing the risk of loss due to exchange failures or hacks.”
THORChain also allows users to trade cross-chain with “low slippage, no frontrunning, and no MEV.” This could be of particular “benefit to users conducting large transactions, particularly with BTC.”
Thanks to this new integration, users can perform swaps on BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC, DAI & WBTC, with “support for even more ERC-20 tokens coming soon.”
This all happens directly via Ledger Live Desktop: there’s no need to leave the app, undergo KYC, or “create a new account. And with the Ledger Exchange app securing your transactions from end to end, you can always make high-value Bitcoin swaps with confidence via Ledger Live.”
This integration was made possible via SwapKit.dev – an API + SDK that abstracts the complexity of THORChain services with a “battle-tested infrastructure ensuring enterprise-level performance.”
If you use Ledger Live Desktop, you can access THORChain. Just initiate a swap and choose THORChain from the list of swap providers in order to get started.
THORChain provides Ledger Live users with a new option for “high-volume, secure, and decentralized cryptocurrency swaps.”
But no matter the swap provider you choose, you can reportedly take advantage “competitive pricing” and a “seamless” experience while benefiting from Ledger’s proven security model.
So whether you’re newcomer to the crypto and web3 space or you’re a more experienced digital assets user, you may have peace of mind that Ledger aims to provide when practicing secure self-custody over your assets.
However, Ledger has also experienced considerable challenges over the years when it comes to ensuring users’ privacy and security. Ultimately, the end-users must ensure that they are extremely vigilant and very careful in how they interact with their digital asset wallets in offline as well as online environments.
