Wise Aims to Expand Services in North America, Brail, EMEA

Global Fintech Wise (LSE:WISE)says it wants to boost the utilization of its services in North America as well as Brazil and the EMEA [Europe, the Middle East and Africa].

Best known for its near instantaneous transfer and payments platform, Wise also offers multiple neobanking services.

In a move to boost utilization, Wise says it has hired new executives, including Lauren Langbridge as Commercial Director for North America and Manuel Sandhofer as its new General Manager for Europe, the Middle East, and Brazil.

Sandhofer was previously at Nium and held senior roles at Payoneer and UniCredit.

Langbridge was an executive at Currencycloud, where she played a role in transforming the company from a UK-centric startup into a global cross-border payments company.

Wise notes that in 2024, it expanded services into Latin America, partnering with digital bank Nubank as well as Travelex Confidence, a large non-bank foreign currency supplier.

In Europe, Wise highlights other recent improvements, including:

  • Launching nine additional currencies with digital bank Germany’s N26.
    A new partnership with leading global bank Standard Chartered to enable less expensive international payments
    Launching with Qonto in France to offer international payments to over 500,000 SMEs and freelancers across Europe.
    Wise Platform reports that it now has six direct connections to payment systems and 65+ licenses worldwide, enabling cross-border payments to 190+ countries and 350+ payment rails.
