ClearBank Has a New CEO

ClearBank has selected former CFO Mark Fairless as its new CEO.

According to a release, founder and former CEO Charles McManus will continue with the bank as a member of the Board of Directors, helping to guide the firm’s strategy. McManus will also remain as co-chair of the Innovate Finance Unicorn Council. Fairless has been part of Clearbank since January 2023.

Before Clearbank, Fairless was CFO of M&G Heritage Business, a savings and investment provider. He has also held executive roles at Santander UK and Barclays Investment Bank.

Chairman of the ClearBank Board, Peter Herbert, said they are excited to enter the next phase of development, which includes expanding into other markets.

“Mark’s deep understanding of our business, coupled with his strategic vision, makes him the ideal person to build on our foundations and guide ClearBank towards even greater success.”

Fairless said that ClearBank is primed for the next phase of growth.

McManus said he was handing leadership to a trusted partner.

“Given our great momentum, now is the time for me to take a step away from the business’ day-to-day operations, while continuing to represent the industry as a whole via my involvement with the Unicorn Council.”

ClearBank is authorized and regulated in the UK by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. In Europe, ClearBank is authorized by the European Central Bank (ECB) and supervised by the De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB).
