Chime announced that it is putting down permanent roots in New York City with a long-term lease at 122 Fifth Avenue, right in the heart of the Flatiron District—a neighborhood that’s reportedly known for its role as a hub of tech, finance, and innovation.
Consumer Fintech Chime noted in a blog post that the space, set to open in late 2026, will serve “as a center for collaboration and connection, designed to bring teams together and advance the company’s mission of unlocking financial progress.”
New York is said to have long played “a role in Chime’s growth story.”
The metro area is home to one of the largest concentrations of Chime members in the country, “making it a natural extension of the company’s work and values.”
From a pilot office in a Chelsea co-working space, to “an expanded Midtown presence, to the acquisition of New York-based Salt Labs and the opening of a downtown office at 101 Greenwich Street, Chime’s footprint in the city has grown alongside the team.”
Today, New York-based employees represent teams from “all across the organization—from product and engineering to sales, marketing, partnerships, and more.”
Chime’s work in New York also “extends beyond offices and products.”
Through community programs, Chime partners with a range of local organizations, “including the Precious Dreams Foundation, Meals on Wheels, and a roster of New York-based Chime Community Changemakers such as EatOkra, First Tech Fund, Marcy Lab School, Official Black Wall Street, Seeds of Fortune, and WeThrive.”
For co-founder and CEO, Chris Britt, this move “represents a full-circle moment.”
Raised just north of the city in Mount Vernon, Britt returned to New York and started his early career “in Manhattan after graduating from Tulane.”
Those experiences helped inspire the mission behind Chime, which is to “serve everyday people and help them make progress on their financial journey.”
The new space at 122 Fifth Avenue is being designed to “reflect how Chime works and what it stands for.”
The office space is currently “under construction and doors will officially open in 2026.”
In the meantime, this new flagship office “signals a deeper commitment to the city and communities that have shaped Chime’s journey.”
From members and teammates to mission-aligned partners, New York continues to be “central to the company’s future.”
