Welp, it seems like the votes weren’t there again.
Yesterday, the House of Representatives voted on a procedural measure to advance crypto legislation. Embarrassingly, the vote failed. President Trump corralled the Representatives who voted against the measure and last night claimed on Truth Social – the votes were there.
The bottleneck is Republicans, who are blocking passage. According to the chatter, their concern is that a CBDC, or central bank digital currency, could eventually be approved. This is somewhat unusual, as the current resolution includes a bill that would ban the Federal Reserve from issuing a digital dollar for retail use.
