Fintech Klarna Introduces Agentic Product Protocol

Klarna (NYSE:KLAR), the global digital bank and flexible payments provider, announced the launch of its Agentic Product Protocol, which is described as being a new open standard that makes every product on the internet discoverable as well as more understandable by AI agents. As AI becomes the so-called new interface for commerce, Klarna’s Agentic Product Protocol gives AI systems access to a live, structured feed of “more than 100 million products and 400 million prices standardized across 12 markets.”

As noted in the update from payments Fintech Klarna, the protocol establishes the structured foundation that allows agents to find, compare, and recommend real products with “live prices and availability, across merchants, markets, and platforms.”

The Agentic Product Protocol specification and API access are now reportedly available for developers, AI platforms, and merchants.

As reported earlier, Klarna made its flexible payment products available “when checking out on Apple Pay in France and Italy.”

Eligible clients can now choose Klarna at checkout online and in-app using their iPhone and iPad, or in-store “using their iPhone, and this innovative capability delivers even more convenience, control, and transparency to more customers.”

The expansion follows consumer adoption in Denmark, Spain, Sweden, the U.S., UK and Canada, where Klarna’s flexible payment options “have become a popular way to pay with Apple Pay.”

With this launch, consumers across eight major markets can now “choose to shop with Klarna through Apple Pay’s simple experience, and consumers have more flexibility in how they can pay.”
