As all financial services go digital, and digital assets represent the future of securities and more, the CFTC is at a key inflection point that will dramatically change derivatives, futures, securities, other RWAs, and more. The current administration seeks to lead the digital asset industry.
This is important as with USA leadership, other jurisdictions will follow, and the US can define best practices and regulations. The prior administration dropped the ball, and if the same leadership had remained, the US would have undermined its own influence in the global financial industry.
