Hashgraph, via its Hedera blockchain, has announced a partnership with Merk to provide global compliance and supply chain tracking.
The TrackTraceDigital Product Passport (DPP) platform is said to be extended to support Merk and the EU’s forthcoming product transparency regulation.
The Hedera-powered digital traceability infrastructure will integrate with Merk’s authentication system to provide proof of authenticity.
New EU regulations, the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), will require Digital Product Passports via QR code detailing a product’s origin, from 2026, and the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) addresses the progeny of commodities, including cocoa, coffee, and timber.
The partnership between Hashgraph and Merck is designed to support the entire supply value chain and regulatory demands.
Dr. Thomas Endress, Executive Director, Head of M-Trust in the Group Science & Technology Office of Merck, says authentication is now entering the digital realm.
