FIS Expands Digital One Commercial Platform to Asia-Pacific Markets

FIS (NYSE: FIS), a global provider of financial technology solutions, has introduced its Digital One Commercial platform in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. This move finalizes the solution’s worldwide availability, extending it to financial institutions in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and now APAC.

The platform is designed as a flexible, core-agnostic system that allows banks to support a full range of business clients—from small and medium-sized enterprises to large corporations—across multiple countries using a single deployment.

It does not require replacement of existing core banking systems. Instead, it connects to them through an API-first architecture, enabling institutions to expand commercial banking offerings without a complete technology overhaul.

This launch addresses growing demands in APAC’s commercial banking sector.

Industry data from Celent indicates that corporate banking technology spending in the region rose 5.5 percent in 2025 and is projected to increase by 6.2 percent in 2026.

Banks are focusing investments on client management tools and digital platforms for corporate customers.

However, many still rely on fragmented, country-specific systems.

They face challenges including varied regulatory requirements, data sovereignty rules that call for adaptable cloud options, and business clients who expect seamless, real-time digital services similar to those available in retail banking.

Digital One Commercial is built to cover key areas of business banking throughout the transaction lifecycle.

These include routine cash management and payments, as well as more advanced functions such as trade finance, foreign exchange, and corporate treasury operations.

Key features tailored to the region include support for real-time payments across multiple rails, incorporating major APAC schemes like PayNow, GIRO, FAST, and cross-border options via SWIFT/ISO.

It also handles multi-entity liquidity management.

The platform’s architecture is composable, allowing banks to serve different customer segments on one system rather than maintaining separate platforms based on client size or location.

Capabilities can be added gradually. It offers native support for multiple languages, including English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Bahasa Indonesia, and Vietnamese, along with multi-currency and multi-time-zone functionality.

This enables operations across diverse markets from a single instance.

Direct links to enterprise resource planning (ERP) and accounting systems embed banking services into clients’ everyday workflows, reducing the need for treasury staff to move between different portals.

One prominent APAC bank is already using the platform across 15 countries on a unified instance.

It supports around 350,000 business customers and more than one million end users.

This has helped the institution introduce new products faster and increase commercial banking revenue while avoiding the complexities of managing separate systems for each market.

Peter Boyer, Co-President of Banking Solutions at FIS, noted the unique complexities of the APAC commercial banking environment, where many institutions operate with market-specific systems rather than region-wide solutions.

He emphasized that the platform aims to help banks consolidate operations, serve all business segments from one system, and drive growth.

Colin Kerr, Head of Banking and Payments at Celent, observed that the move toward platform-based commercial banking is gaining momentum in the region, driven by needs for unified client experiences and cross-border capabilities.

Flexible architectures that integrate with existing cores are becoming priorities for transformation efforts.

Digital One Commercial, previously known in some contexts as Dragonfly Universal Online Banker and now part of the broader FIS Digital One ecosystem, is positioned for both regional banks expanding geographically and international institutions seeking to update their commercial offerings.

By providing a modern, adaptable foundation suited to APAC’s varied regulatory and operational landscape, the solution supports institutions in delivering more sophisticated, scalable services to business clients across mature and emerging markets.
