Robinhood (NASDAQ:HOOD) has launched crypto trading in the UK.
In a release, Robinhood said it was rolling out crypto trading to eligible UK customers beginning this week. The move mirrors competitor Coinbase, which has moved in the opposite direction, first offering crypto trading and then adding traditional securities in the UK market. The launch of crypto trading in the UK is said to be part of its ambition of becoming an all-in-one investment platform for users
Initially, Robinhood will offer over 50 crypto assets by working directly with Bitstamp UK Ltd in the Robinhood app.
Robinhood acquired Bitstamp in June 2025 for approximately $200 million in cash. Bitstamp now operates as “Bitstamp by Robinhood. Bitstamp is one of the longest-running major crypto exchanges in operation.
Jordan Sinclair, President of Robinhood U.K. Ltd and GM of Bitstamp UK, said there is a new wave of investors seeing digital assets as an important part of a diversified portfolio, while emphasizing its goal of becoming the top all-in-one investment platform in the country.
As part of the launch, Robinhood said that it is introducing Robinhood Cortex Digests for Crypto, which is powered by artificial intelligence. Cortex is designed to analyze news, market data, and technical indicators that move crypto prices.
Robinhood added that UK developers can build on the Robinhood Chain and be natively connected to its onchain ecosystem.
At the time of the acquisition, it was estimated that Bitstamp UK had approximately 500,000 retail customers and 5000 institutional users.
Robinhood does not break out its UK account holders, but in May 2025 it was reported that Robinhood had 150,000 customers in the UK and EU combined.
