Hyperliquid (HYPE) Token Surges to Record High After Nearly Tripling in 2026 Amid Progressive US Regulatory Developments

The native token of the so-called decentralized trading platform Hyperliquid, known as HYPE, has reached a fresh all-time high, surpassing $77 in recent sessions. This milestone caps a strong year in which the asset has advanced almost 200% from the start of 2026.

The gains stand out against a mixed backdrop for major cryptocurrencies, with Bitcoin down roughly 12% and Ethereum lower by about 20% over the same period.

The latest upward move gained momentum after remarks by President Donald Trump during a White House meeting with crypto and finance leaders.

Trump indicated that Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman (CFTC) Michael Selig is working to enable Hyperliquid’s presence in the United States under a fully compliant and legal framework.

The platform, which specializes in perpetual futures contracts, currently restricts access for US users and operates largely offshore.

Hyperliquid’s core product allows traders to open leveraged positions on cryptocurrencies as well as certain traditional assets such as stocks and commodities, without the fixed expiration dates typical of conventional futures.

Its on-chain infrastructure has supported significant trading volumes and fee generation, helping establish it as a prominent venue in the decentralized derivatives space.

Market reaction to the presidential comments was swift.

HYPE advanced several percentage points to set the new record, while related vehicles—including a publicly traded company focused on holding the token—saw sharp gains of up to 31%.

The news coincided with a broader recovery in digital asset prices, adding further support.

No formal regulatory approval or specific timeline has been disclosed, and Hyperliquid’s terms still limit US participation.

Nevertheless, the explicit reference by the administration has been viewed by many participants as an encouraging signal of potential pathways for regulated onshore operations of advanced decentralized trading systems.

The development fits into wider discussions around digital asset policy, including calls for clearer legislative frameworks.

For a platform already handling substantial perpetual futures activity, access to the US market could meaningfully expand its user base and liquidity.

HYPE’s outperformance this year reflects both the platform’s operational traction and investor sensitivity to regulatory developments.

As policy conversations continue, tokens tied to infrastructure that demonstrates both technical strength and engagement with U.S. authorities may remain in focus.

While prices can shift quickly with headlines and overall market conditions, the combination of Hyperliquid’s existing metrics and the recent political attention has contributed to its position among the stronger performers in the current crypto landscape.
