Money Management Platform Plum Extends Upvest Partnership to Enable UK Investment Services

Plum, the money management app known for helping users automate saving and investing, has chosen Upvest to run its UK investment services. The move extends a relationship that already covers continental Europe and brings both markets onto one modern platform.

The two companies first teamed up in 2023, when Upvest began supporting Plum’s investment offering across the European Union.

That arrangement has now been expanded to the United Kingdom, Plum’s home market.

The rollout will begin with investment funds.

Stocks and exchange-traded funds will follow, after which Plum plans to shift its existing UK funds business onto Upvest’s systems.

Until now, Plum’s investment operations relied on several separate providers handling different parts of the process.

The new setup replaces that patchwork with a single brokerage and custody arrangement.

The change is expected to cut the number of technical connections Plum must maintain, simplify day-to-day operations, and give the company a cleaner foundation as its user base continues to grow.

Upvest’s cloud-based Investment API is built to handle large trading volumes and frequent product updates.

The company reports that more than 99 percent of middle- and back-office work—brokerage, settlement, and custody—is already automated. Real-time data and daily software releases are meant to let partners launch new features quickly.

For Plum, that architecture supports products such as fractional investing starting at £1 and automated recurring contributions, all tailored to local market rules.

Ed Simmons, Plum’s vice president of operations, said the decision felt like a logical next step after seeing the partnership work well in Europe.

“We want to help our users build wealth over the long term, and investment services are central to this ambition,” he noted.

Symmie Swil, Upvest’s general manager for the United Kingdom, highlighted the continuity.

“Plum has trusted us to power its European business since 2023, and we’re proud they’ve chosen to bring that same partnership to their home market.

Consolidating onto one platform gives Plum a more resilient foundation, and as they enter their next stage of growth, our infrastructure is designed to scale with them.”

Plum, founded in 2016 by former Wise executive Victor Trokoudes, now serves millions of customers across Europe.

Users have set aside more than £10 billion through the app.

The company has been recognized on Deloitte’s UK Technology Fast 50 list.

It is headquartered in London with additional offices in Athens and Nicosia.Upvest, established in 2017 and still founder-led, supplies API-based securities infrastructure to banks, brokers, and wealth managers.

Besides software, it handles trading, custody, and back-office functions.

Its client list includes Revolut, N26, bunq, Webull, Raisin, Openbank, and DKB.

The firm employs about 280 people and processes more than 100 million trades a year.

Long-term backing comes from investors such as Earlybird and Bessemer Venture Partners.

The partnership illustrates a broader shift among fintechs and traditional financial firms away from fragmented or aging systems toward a single, scalable provider that can operate across both the UK and the rest of Europe.

For Plum, the unified platform is intended to support continued expansion while keeping the user experience simple and consistent.Investments carry risk and can fall in value as well as rise. Customers may receive back less than they originally invested.
